(LOT 18)
Group of (3) 1934 Tour of Japan Gold Photos One Autographed by Babe Ruth and Frank "Lefty" O'Doul PSA/DNA LOA
THE BABE GOLFING!!! On November 6th, 1934 the Babe, Lefty O'Doul, Shiro Akaboshi, Champion of the Tokyo Golf Club and Joseph Crew, the U.S Ambassador to Japan all set out to play 18 holes of golf in Tokyo, Japan. They finished just 14 holes due to the cameraman pursuing Babe all over the course. The four golfers had a great day of golf and Joseph Crew remembered that the Babe and Lefty were discussing many of the current baseball players on the course as well as the Babe having difficulty getting out of sand traps.
The 4x6 inch B&W photo in this lot is autographed by Babe Ruth and Lefty O'Doul, but has all 4 golfers in the shot. Two accompanting pictures, that are a little smaller, also have all golfers in the shot but aren't autographed. These are original, one of a kind photos and show a middle aged Babe Ruth and Lefty O'Doul sitting on a stairwell and standing for a posed photo. Attached you will find copies of 2 pages from the book "Three Years of Calm Before The Storm" which talk about that amazing day of golf. Wow, to be a caddy that day!!
PSA/DNA LOA on the Autographed Photo.
