(LOT 58)
1954 Topps #128 Hank Aaron Rookie PSA 7 NM

THE HAMMER!!!...
There are only a handful of 1950s rookie cards that are equal to or perhaps more significant than that of the inimitable Hank Aaron issued in 1954 by Topps. As a rookie, Aaron posted an excellent .280 batting average with 131 hits including 13 home runs, one more than NL Rookie of the Year Wally Moon. But Aaron's impressive numbers came in 29 fewer games and more than 165 fewer at-bats. Hammerin' Hank's fourth-place finish in ROY voting was a precursor of what was to come. The Hammer was in contention for NL MVP honors from 1955 to 1973 — 19 straight years! In 1957, as he led his Milwaukee Braves to the World Series title, the first since 1914, Aaron was named the NL MVP. But that, too, was only a fragment of his impact on the game. In 1974, amidst unrelenting racial tension pointed at him, Hank Aaron became the undisputed home run king, surpassing Babe Ruth's 714 in the fourth game of the season. Offered here is that 1954 Topps #128 rookie issue of Hammerin' Hank graded 7 NM by PSA. This gorgeous example should grab your attention with its pack-fresh, rough-cut edging and pinpoint corners. The bright orange background is rich and the bordering remains white. A super clean issue that will enhance any 1954 Topps set to which it is added.
