RARE WAGNER!!!...The 1902-11 W600 Sporting Life Cabinet set is expansive, to say the least, with more than 650 examples featuring the portrait images of ballplayers from the famed Carl Horner. These 5” x 7-1/2” cabinet images offer players often decked out in street clothes, but the club uniform portraits remain the more desirable versions. The offered W600 John “Hans” Wagner donning his Pittsburgh N.L. Uniform Type 4 in a PSA 1 holder is one of those highly coveted issues, as he is, of course, one of the key issues in the “set”. There are, in fact, five variations of the Flying Dutchman, all equally sought-after and exceedingly rare. Only 20 PSA-graded examples exist and only six non-qualified versions of this issue are holdered. This issue presents wonderful centering and a delightful grey frame that displays even wear on the edging and corners. Wagner’s image is bright and clear, and the imprinted Sporting Life – Philadelphia logo at the bottom is also vibrant and clear. Wrinkles are evident on the reverse at the upper right edge and lower left corner but are virtually invisible on the face without a close-up look. Due to their size and handleability, these can be difficult to find in any grade, making this one for the rare Hall of Fame collector. Gorgeous Wagner Cabinet!
