One of the most obscure post-WWII issues is the 1952 Star-Cal Decals (Type 1) with 100 subjects including 23 HOFers like Williams, Mays, Robinson, Musial and, of course, Mickey Mantle. The 4-1/8" x 6-1/8" decals included color images and a facsimile signature originally enclosed in a red-sealed envelope. There is a significant scarcity in finding the decals enclosed in their original wrappers. The most valuable is Mickey Mantle, with his PSA Authentic presented here in its original red envelope. In 1952 Mantle eclipsed the .300 batting mark for the first time, compiling a .311 average with 23 homers and 87 RBIs. Their rarity is justified by PSA's Pop Chart that only 26 PSA-encapsulated Mantle copies exist—all Authentic. Offering awesome aesthetics with the original 15-cent envelope only portraying some modest corner wear, negligible edge chipping and no obtrusive surface flaws. Mantle’s central image is breathtaking with many original vibrant hues and crystal-clear clarity.
