(LOT 71)
1963 Topps #537 Pete Rose Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT

2X GOLD GLOVER!!!...
It is interesting how so many players are typically remembered for one aspect of their game when other skills are equally strong. Thus was the case with the inimitable Pete Rose, who stands atop the hit statistic, posting 10 seasons with 200 or more base knocks and a Major League record of 4,256. That's 65 more than runner-up Ty Cobb and nearly 500 more than third place holder, Hank Aaron. But, forgotten are the two Gold Gloves as an outfielder in 1969 and '70. In fact, Rose posted a phenomenal .987 fielding percentage over his career, with a .991 as an outfielder and .994 at first base. However, it was Charlie Hustle's bat and fierce playing style for which he is best remembered and his unfortunate gambling issues. Offered here is a 1963 Topps #537 Rete Rose Rookie issue in a PSA 8 holder. This well-framed and colorful 8 has razor borders and corners and impeccable surfaces. This amazing Rookie should be on every collector's radar. What a beauty!
