(LOT 82)
1973 Topps #615 Mike Schmidt Rookie PSA 9 MINT

SCHMITTY SHOCKER!!!...
When Mike Schmidt was five years old, his mother reported that he climbed to the top of a tree and grabbed a 4,000-volt electric line, electrocuting him and stopping his heart, only to have the subsequent fall and impact with the ground restarting his heart pumping again. What an incredible story and insight into the future Hall of Famer's toughness and resilience. Schmidt was taken one pick after fellow Hall of Fame third baseman George Brett in the 1971 MLB draft and he moved quickly to the show with a 1973 rookie campaign. The powerful slugging third bagger ultimately led the NL in home runs eight times and retired with 548 dingers. He was arguably the greatest all-around third baseman in baseball history as he also captured ten Gold Gloves awards, three NL MVPs and the 1980 World Series title with the Philadelphia Phillies. Offered here is a 1973 Topps #615 Mike Schmidt Rookie in a PSA 9 MINT holder. Only five graded higher, making it a jolt to any collection!
