(LOT 374)
1909-11 T206 Cy Young Cleveland, Portrait Piedmont 350/25 PSA 5 EX

DENT!!!...
The 1911 season would be Cy Young's last in the Major Leagues as he retired as a member of the Boston Rustlers of the National League. Renowned for his vicious fastball, Denton True earned the nickname Cyclone, or later "Cy", as a 23-year-old at a tryout when he peppered the fence behind the plate with fastball after fastball. The resulting damage to the fencing and slats looked as if a cyclone hit them and thus the name that stuck for the remainder of his career. That famed fastball assisted the big right-hander for 22 seasons as he posted Major League records for wins (511), losses (315), complete games (749), innings, hits, earned runs and batters faced among others. He won the Triple Crown for pitching in 1901 with the Boston Americans and led his 1903 team to the first-ever official World Series title. Offered here is a 1909-11 T206 Cy Young Cleveland, Portrait Piedmont 350/25 PSA 5 EX with a robust green background, strong white borders and no glaring surface abrasions or flaws.
