Graded Authentic from PSA, this Jan 9th, 1946 check was Paid to the Order of Claire Ruth from "GH Ruth" in the amount of $100. Handwritten in black fountain pen, The Babe's $100 check to his beloved wife Claire would be approximately $1,500 in today's money. Ruth's signature on the front appears darker than the payable and dating, and has been smudged across the "GH", but his flow and penmanship is unmistakable. The back has been signed by Claire, Ruth (also slightly smudged over the "th"), and H.G. Alexander. Babe Ruth checks remain a commodity, and this one is no different, having been penned only months prior to his November cancer diagnosis that would ultimately claim him two years later.
