(LOT 1672)
1959 American League All-Stars Rare Multi-Signed Baseball with Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Casey Stengel, Nellie Fox, Yogi Berra, Roger Maris & More PSA/DNA LOA

This is an extremely rare piece, representing the first year MLB experimented with hosting a doubleheader of All-Star Games as part of an effort to boost the players' pension fund. The first game took place on Tuesday, July 7, at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, with the National League winning 5–4. The second game was held on Monday, August 3, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers, with the American League claiming a 5–3 victory to split the series.

This doubleheader experiment continued for four seasons, but the tradition of a single annual All-Star Game resumed in 1963. This Official National League Warren Giles baseball is signed by a remarkable roster of Baseball Hall of Famers, including Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Early Wynn, Yogi Berra, Al Kaline, Minnie Miñoso, Casey Stengel, Hoyt Wilhelm, Harmon Killebrew, Nellie Fox, and Luis Aparicio; as well as Roger Maris, Elston Howard, Bobby Richardson, Tony Kubek, Ralph Houk, Pete Runnels, Rocky Colavito, and Frank Malzone. The signatures are in excellent condition, averaging a 7-8. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a multi-signed baseball from the historic first All-Star Doubleheader.
