RICKEY GLOVE!!!...During the 1980s & '90s, Rickey Henderson was one of the best outfielders in the game, leading the Oakland A’s and American League in fielding percentage three times and retiring with an impressive .979 FP for his 25-year career. But Rickey was far more than a great fielder; he is the all-time stolen base king with 1,406 swipes, scored more runs than any other player (2,295) and holds the record for most career leadoff home runs with 81. Rickey played two and a half decades for nine teams, won two World Series and was the 1990 AL MVP. He also won a Gold Glove in 1981. Offered is his 1998 game-used black Rawlings PRO-601B Trap-Eze model glove, given to one of his Oakland teammates after a preseason game on Apr. 16, 1998. Given the wear, this glove was potentially worn during the 1997 season and then in the ’98 preseason before being gifted to our consignor, knowing that he would be ordering a new mitt for the regular season. Photo matched by Getty on July 8, 2025, the glove shows considerable wear, dust and stamping erosion, and specific characteristics matching Getty’s exemplar. Henderson’s “RH” and number ”24” handwritten in black marker on the Rawlings brand tag on the back of the glove. This was worn by the Man of Steal to help Oakland beat Baltimore 10-4 in April of 1998. A fantastic piece of memorabilia for a first-ballot Hall of Famer directly from a former teammate and friend.
