Only two years removed from his playing days, this Georgia Peach signed check is still as desirable as the day it was written, actually significantly more. Ty Cobb and artifacts from his Detroit time and long after remain highly sought-after, as he is still one of the most collectible figures in the hobby. This Georgia Railroad Bank Ty Cobb signed cancelled check was written on December 8, 1930. Cobb has written the check to the IRS in the amount of $198.87. Though this check is not penned in Cobb’s typical green ink (probably not a good idea to use on a check to the IRS), the black fountain pen is written in his own hand and signed “Tyrus R. Cobb” on the signatory sign and encased Authentic by PSA/DNA. The check itself appears to have been haphazardly removed from a booklet along the bottom edge with minor paper loss, and the cancellation punch holes at center interfere with the body of the check, but almost nothing detracts from the bold Cobb signature. This is a fabulous piece!
