(LOT 1596)
1919 Chicago Cubs Bill Veeck Sr., Fred Mitchell and Charlie Pick Signed Check PSA/DNA Authentic

Chicago Cubs check from 1919 signed by William Veeck Sr. on behalf of the Cubs and paid to the team's manager, Fred Mitchell, and star player, Charlie Pick. William Veeck Sr. was a sportswriter in Chicago before he was tapped by William Wrigley Jr. to become the president of the Cubs in 1919, where he led the team to two pennants before his passing in 1933. Fred Mitchell served as the manager of the Cubs from 1917 to 1920 and the Boston Braves from 1921 to 1923.

Prior to his managing career, Mitchell played in the early 1900s and is one of only a few players to have played for both Boston franchises along with the Yankees. He was noted for relieving Hall of Famer Cy Young in the first-ever Red Sox game. Charlie Pick was a second baseman for the Cubs and was one of the team's stars of the 1918 World Series against Babe Ruth and the Boston Red Sox, batting .389 for the series. A true trifecta of signatures!
