Mr. Burke would go on to be named the 24th treasurer of the United States of America under President Woodrow Wilson from 1913 to 1921. This $50.00 check was paid to Burke as the treasurer of the United States in 1919 and was endorsed two times on the reverse by Mr. Burke himself! The check was written on behalf of the Chicago Cubs by William Veeck Sr.
