1919 Chicago Cubs Bill Veeck Sr. Signed Check to Baseball Secretary Louis Heilbroner PSA/DNA Authentic
Louis Heilbroner was an early baseball secretary and business manager who managed the St. Louis Cardinals during the 1900 season. Heilbroner had no baseball qualifications, and by many accounts, John McGraw, the team's third baseman, was the de facto manager of the team. Heilbroner was replaced in the next season. Heilbroner did, however, leave a lasting mark on the game of baseball, as he was one of the first individuals to track and utilize baseball statistics. In 1909 he founded Heilbroner's Baseball Bureau Service, the first commercial statistical bureau dedicated to baseball, and began publishing the Baseball Blue Book, a service that has survived the test of time and is still in use today! This check shows historical Cubs history.
