1947 Babe Ruth Signed Menu from Ford Luncheon PSA/DNA 9 MINT
BABE IN THE SOUTH!!!...
In 1947, Babe Ruth was the star attraction at Montgomery, Alabama's Ford Luncheon, held at the Jefferson Davis Hotel. Despite having lost 80 lbs. following his 1946 cancer diagnosis, Ruth's fame and fortune allowed him to use experimental cancer treatments and in 1947, his health improved and he spent part of the year traveling the country in support of the Ford Motor Co. and American Legion Baseball. Ten years later, Ruth was still a main attraction and a headliner on the appearance circuit and his legacy was etched in stone as the greatest player of all time.
This Ford Luncheon menu on July 25th, 1947, honored Ruth not only with the pixelated headshot at center, but the menu items included a Home Run Fruit Cocktail, Babe Ruth King Fish, Roast Prime Ribs of Beef, Bambino and American Legion Asparagus. Not forgetting the Yankee in the Deep South, items also included Rebel Parsley Potatoes, Confederate Lettuce with Jefferson Davis Dressing and Ice Cream with Deep South Sauce. This approx. 5-1/2" x 8" menu has been signed by Ruth at left in black fountain pen, which PSA/DNA had deemed 9 MINT for the autograph. Some stray creasing, edge and corner wear is evident overall. An incredibly clear and crisp signature.
