(LOT 1606)
Pair of 1919 Cubs Checks Signed by Bobby (R.C.) Dorr, Margaret "Midge" Donahue and William Veeck Sr. (two checks to Dorr and one is signed by both Dorr and Donahue) - Both PSA/DNA Authentic
Dorr was the Chicago Cubs grounds superintendent from 1919 to 1957. At the direction of William Wrigley Jr., a house was built at Wrigley Field during a major renovation between the 1922 and 1923 seasons for a reported cost of $6,000. This house was for Mr. Dorr's use, free of charge, so he could live at the ballpark and watch over and maintain the property. Donahue was hired by the Chicago Cubs in 1919 as a stenographer but was quickly promoted to corporate secretary and became the first female executive in baseball who was not an owner. A great check signed by both integral employees of the Chicago Cubs in the late teens.
